Service to the Milton Community

I am a deeply engaged Milton resident who brings my public health expertise into my civic life. I currently serve on two public health focused local boards:

 

Additional highlights of my community service include:

  • Town Meeting Member (Precinct 4)

  • Authored and was awarded a $35,000 Community Preservation Act grant for ecological restoration along Pine Tree Brook on behalf of the Pine Tree Brook Neighborhood Association

  • Created and exhibited The Milton Family Portrait Project at the Milton Public Library in 2012 and 2021

  • Drafted and led the successful passage of a new bylaw requiring elected boards in Milton to record their meetings—enhancing transparency and public access to government decision-making

  • Coordinated block parties, community clean-ups, and neighborhood organizing for over 20 years through the Pine Tree Brook Neighborhood Association, where I maintain the email list and Facebook page

Experience

Professional & Educational Overview

With over 30 years of experience in community public health, I have worked across a wide range of issues including:

  • Behavioral health

  • Homelessness and housing stability

  • HIV prevention and sexual health

  • Overdose prevention and harm reduction

  • Coalition-building and community organizing

I currently teach Public Health at Northeastern University, where I am a valued faculty member in the Department of Public Health and Health Sciences in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences. I have won multiple teaching awards and hold two advanced degrees and certifications:

  • Master of Public Health (MPH)

  • Master of Social Work (MSW)

  • Certified in Public Health (CPH) by the National Board of Public Health Examiners

I completed both my undergraduate and graduate education at Boston University.
